I selected the topic of the history of Tennis because of my own personal background with the game- being an avid tennis player and fan-as well as my knowledge that the origins of tennis are indeed an interesting topic. Did you know that tennis originated from a form of handball in early 12th-century France known as "Jeu de Paume"? Or that the first racquet was created in 1583 in Italy? This is the sort of fascinating information that I will be highlighting in my blog, along with modern day legends, rules of the game, and some of the records in tennis, such as the amount of times a single person has one the grand slam tournaments. These are all important topics in the sport of tennis, as the grand slam tournaments require an immense amount of skill and athleticism to win.
Wow! that is very interesting emilio! I can't wait until you write more! GO TENNIIISSSS!!!
ReplyDeleteEmilio, I had no idea that the game of tennis originated back to the 12th century. When did the game (as we know it) originate and where? When did it start in the US and who were some of the early players that were instrumental in making is as popular as it is today? What are some of the famous tournaments that the most notable athletes aspire to? I’d love to learn a little more about Billy Jean King and Arthur Ashe. I know that they were very famous players but I really don’t know much about them. Do you play tennis? If so, how long have you played? Great start on your Blog! Mrs. A.
