Novak Djokovic's 2011 Season
Novak Djokovic had always been an afterthought. When people spoke of the top players of the men's game, the general consensus was that Federer and Nadal were on top, leaving the rest of the competition behind. Even after Djokovic had won his first grand slam tournament at the 2008 Australian Open, shocking Roger Federer in a classic semifinal, who had been previously uncontested as the reigning king of the men's game, people still shrugged Djokovic off as a "One-Slam Wonder". This all changed this year when Djokovic opened up the season at an astonishing 42-0, with his streak finally being broken in a riveting semifinal clash at the French open with Roger Federer. Djokovic became the number 1 player in the world on July 4th, 2011. He also became the 11th man to win 3 grand slam tournaments in one season by winning the Us Open, recorded several losses and retirements towards the end of the season, finishing 70-6, earned a record amount of prize money at the end of the season, earning $12.6 million without endorsment money, and finally, a fact I think is the most impressive of his season, he finished 10-1 head-to-head against Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, two players who are revered as legends in the mens game. Overall, Djokovic's season is certainly one of the best of all time. What do you think?

Federer-Nadal Rivalry
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are two of the greatest players of all time. Federer, with a record 16 grand slam titles and countless records is considered the unoffical greatest player of all time. Despite this, Nadal would usually come out on top when they played. Nadal leads their head to head record 17-9. In this video, Nadal finally overcomes Federer at the 2008 Wimbledon championships after Federer had a virtual chokehold on the tournament for 5 years prior. This match signifies a changing of the guard on the top of men's tennis.

History of Tennis
I selected the topic of the history of Tennis because of my own personal background with the game- being an avid tennis player and fan-as well as my knowledge that the origins of tennis are indeed an interesting topic. Did you know that tennis originated from a form of handball in early 12th-century France known as "Jeu de Paume"? Or that the first racquet was created in 1583 in Italy? This is the sort of fascinating information that I will be highlighting in my blog, along with modern day legends, rules of the game, and some of the records in tennis, such as the amount of times a single person has one the grand slam tournaments. These are all important topics in the sport of tennis, as the grand slam tournaments require an immense amount of skill and athleticism to win.
